₪ ramifications
₪ ramifications
it's halfway May. halfway.
and i'm still failing my chem.
sheesh. what's the difference between Fs, Os, Es or Ds, save the fact that all of them are permanaent fixtures in academia no man's land.
heck, they keep appearing on my quizzes, lecture tests like tat spooky lil boy from Ju-On.
argh.
and norman from my beloved yam cha club mentioned today that i don't have much choices for courses in U. granted, stuff i read (Chem, Maths, Chinese A) look like they came out of a lunch buffet's menu. so what if i manage to defy our instrumental education system? others are securing distinctions for their future prospects, while i'm here blogging just to accentuate my inability to score for chem.
(insert outburst of emotion: OH! WOE IS MEeeee~)
sheesh, it's not as if i'm going to be some geek working in a sci-fi enviroment or a mindless drone toiling away in a small, grey cubicle for our economy. although, i must salute all these folks in all these fields for taking them up, well...someone has to anyway.
i just want to be a chinese teacher, moonlighting as a pilot, novelist or a lyricist, have enough capital to start a cafe and invite lots of peeps to come over and have a mug of coffee. while others are toiling their heads off, i'm off globe-trotting, meet a girl under a cherry blossom by the river and get married.
unforutnately, most of us are caught up in this never-ending rat race, this one world order that comes with globalisation, unknowingly controlled by the Machines...oops, capitalists. (whoever they are, i'm not an Econs students thankfully. heard yam cha club members seldom pass their DRQ or essay)
depressing.
education is billboarded as the key to success, which unfortunately, is.
ticket to riches, knowledge etc etc...or stairway to IMH for those who crack under pressure.
i did this compre today about the shortcomings of educations in our times.
talks about how education is used as a tool for economic growth and progress in Asian countries, students lack creativity, imagination or passion in their studies....and that the crux of education is to develop an indiviual who consistently seek paths of knowledge...stuff like that.
heh, take my GP class for example.
ppl hu are participating in exchange of ideas or opinions are mostly me and my yam cha club.
the rest of the class are just lying down there, listening to crickets chirp.
granted, yam cha club was formed under extraordinary cirumstances where we were bored to the furthest extent you could ever imagined and a game of bingo kickstarted our club. we're not that passionate about GP after all.
heh, most of ppl around me are not passionate about anything they read in school.
what i call, a case of doing it just becos you have to do it. then why do it in the first place?
(and this can be applied to fields outside academics. open to interpretation.)
day in, day out...sometimes on walking back home from school, i'd lament how one day passed and i din seem to be doing anything useful (which is probably my own fault 95%) of the time.
instead of questioning the education system, we should take some time off and look at the quality of our education here.
not going into any of that, cos it reminds me of Pre U Sem and tat smells like another bout of headache.
and everything's made difficult for maximising your time to study. well, i MADE everything difficult for myself. hardly a day goes by without coming online, read some news here and there stuff like that. feel's like war's waging when you have conflicting interests: to study or to shake your feet and do something other than what you should be doing which is incidentally, studying.
imagine Gondor.
hundred times the amount of Orcs present. everything's under seige.
and when you start to consider to or not to do some revision, the latter slowly creeps into your heart and every few second you are seduced into doing something else. visualize gimli, legolas and eventually aragorn dying off one by one. something like that.
the orcs stormed in and poof! you're off doing something else other than what you should be doing which is incidentally, studying.
tat's why i'm still miles away from the sacred B for Chem, as though i';m searching for the Holy Grail. it's kinda hard to be a student nowadays. there's 5 more months to go. maebe i'd work something out.
(suddenly an image of a wizened, greenish being with two pointed ears appeared out of nowhere. and he spoke, his words reverberating. )
" Do or do not, there is no try."
haix.
god bless the broken road.

₪ solemn vigil
₪ solemn vigil
feel that i've got to blog about this.
tuned on the tv today for the state service of our former President Mr. Wee Kim Wee.
it rained this afternoon.
as though heaven's mourning the loss of Singapore's son.
now, i don't really know much about him honestly. the only presidents i had deep impressions of were Mr. S.R Nathan and Mr. Ong Teng Cheong.
but i've followed the papers closely these few days and they gave me insight of this remarkable Singporean who touched the hearts of many.
this was one man who went the extra mile, who cared for others with a geninue compassion and who always had a smile for everyone.
i was watching the service... and i can't refute that sense of respect i felt for him.
and it saddens me when i look back at what i've been doing all my life.
have i possess that humility that Mr Wee had, even just half of it?
do i remember everyone i've come across? to give them a smile? or just ask how they are?
have i at times, overlooked the feelings of others?
do i have utmost respect for my fellow man? the diligence, the integrity, the graciousness?
Mr. Wee was the epitome of a perfect gentleman.
rising from a humble begining to the highest office of the land, he never once forget his roots.
me?
i'm still concerned about how i look, waxing my hair every morning.
i wear my dislike blatantly for people i detest.
i seldom consider the feelings of others when i make a comment or poke fun at them, however unintentional it was.
and unless they are my friends, i'd never say hi or put on a smile whenever i see someone i don't know that well. that includes neighbours upstairs and down, teachers in school, hi-bye friends that hadn't made an impression on me.
and Mr. Wee even remembered his Japanese chauffeur when he was Ambassador to Japan.
we pay attention to people who are close to us. close to our heart.
but this was one man who showered care and concern for everyone he came across..how many of us could actually do that? do we remember to make small chat with the auntie in the canteen selling us our lunch everyday? do we say hi or make a wave at the bus driver that fetches us from one point to another? or jus a friendly nod or a warm smile?
and here i am, sending out testimonials on friendster to people i hafen see or heard from for a long time...but it's a start.
and how many of us can say we lived our life to the fullest? if i'm to die the very next moment, i'd go with regrets. i can't sae that i've done everything that should be done in my life. Mr. Wee was a enthusiastic badminton player, an avid newspaper reporter, a passionate supporter of charity and in more ways than one, contributed to society.
the things he did was something many of us would have to spend lifetimes to acheive.
but he did it.
that's something we can draw our lessons from, that diligence, that passion, that humilty.
i'm start to re-evaluate the ways i lead my life.
and this is what the passing of the former President tells me to.
to look at my principles, my ideals again.
they said Mr Wee was the right person for the right job and at the right time, during that period of rife with communism, of the Indonesian confrontation. well, people were right.
but i feel that, in our times..in such a complex world like ours..
we need more men like Mr. Wee

₪ good luck!!
₪ good luck!! グッドラック!!
"good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. thank you for choosing us, and we hope you had a pleasant flight! please fly with us again and until then...good luck!!"

wings-carriers of dreams
i've given it some thought.
if i feel like flying so much, maybe i could try and become a pilot.
being part of the cabin crew will still mean flying, but it's different if you're a pilot.
kinda funny that i want to be a pilot when the number of times i'm on a plane can be easily counted with my fingers. maebe it's because i haven been on a plane that many times (unlike most of you out there with frequent trips on board, youu luck chaps), i appreciate my hours onboard.

smallville- clark kent flying
it's kinda sad to see people only getting exhilarated when a plane takes off and then start plugging their headphone jacks, falling into deep slumber or just waiting for their food to be served. granted, it's just another mode of transport. but take a look outside, it's beautiful.
the hues of blue, peaceful and serene with oceanic clouds, floating like marshmellows. or if you're in luck, the break of dawn or the setting sun adds dimensions to the view outside. everything is basked in marigold, with a tinge of blue and pink here and there. could it get any better than this? tell me how can an entertainment system onboard measure up to the manifestation of freedom, peace and serenity outside the window? one can be so close to the Sun, so close to Him up there. i'm sure that was what Icarus felt, exhilarated by the thrill of flying so much so that he got careless and flew too near the Sun. and it's the reason why i like Superman so much; he could fly.
but, a life above the clouds would be wonderful.

good luck!!
guess i;d try to work my way towards this bahz. it's sure beats sitting in a cubicle staring at files and folders all day long. that kinda stinks. a lot, if i may add.
so guess maybe one fine day, you may hear me on the intercom when you take SIA, say 8 years down the road. heex. until then, good luck!
"The crew would like to thank you for your co-operation in making the journey to our destination a safe one. Down on earth, there is presently a lot of conflict. However, along with all of you, we would like to hope that the clouds will part soon, enabling a clear sky appear again. We treasure this meeting in the sky and hope to travel again with you some time in the future. A good trip to you all. Good luck!!"
